The Captives Forum is a not-for-profit Trade Association that was created to serve the Equipment Manufacturers’ sales finance activities.

The Captives Forum’s vision is to be the acknowledged representative organisation for bringing together the Captive Asset Finance subsidiaries of the Major Equipment Manufacturers whose sales activities encompass Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Our mission is to represent our members’ interests by interacting with Regulators, the EU Commission, other European business institutions and the media; where possible and when the objectives are aligned, with Leaseurope and the National Leasing Associations, so as to improve the working environment in which our members do business.

Strategic Objectives

In line with this vision and mission, our Strategic Objectives are to:

  • ensure that the benefits of a thriving manufacturer-supported asset finance industry are fully understood and appreciated by the European business support agencies, such as the EBRD;

  • inform and influence European government regulators and the media that substantial and important support for the SMEs is provided by the manufacturers via their sales finance subsidiaries; and lobby them to reduce the cost and burden of regulation on the industry and its customers;

  • be the definitive centre of competence and influence on key industry issues, as well as a forum for the exchange of thoughts and ideas, particularly those which are specific to the manufacturer’s captive finance companies;

  • continue to be the manufacturer-focused Forum for the exchange of ideas, particularly regarding those subjects which are specifically relevant to the finance subsidiaries of the manufacturers.

    Membership is for Asset Finance companies which are owned and controlled by manufacturers of capital equipment operating in Europe.

    The specific qualification for membership is that the member company must be owned by a major manufacturer of capital equipment, and that the finance activities should be in the hands of and under the control of the manufacturer’s personnel. It is not necessary for the funding of all transactions to be on the manufacturer’s own balance sheet.

    The forum is also open to manufacturers who operate their sales finance activities via a division of the company rather than a subsidiary company.
